Hydrogen ICE Manufacturing Facility: Tata Cummins Private Limited (TCPL), a joint venture between Tata Motors Limited and Cummins Inc. USA initiated their Hydrogen ICE Manufacturing Facility for medium and heavy commercial vehicles. Situated in Jamshedpur and spanning almost seven acres, it includes hydrogen-powered internal combustion engines, fuel delivery systems, battery electric powertrains and fuel cell electric systems through the AcceleraTM by Cummins brand., “Progress requires partnership, and I am delighted that we are embarking on this decarbonization journey with our trusted partner of 30 years – Tata Motors. TCPL GES is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tata Cummins Private Limited (TCPL), which is a 50:50 joint venture of Tata Motors Limited and Cummins Inc. USA. Tata Cummins Private Limited (TCPL) operates across three advanced facilities in India. One facility is located in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, while the other two are situated in Phaltan, Maharashtra. Together, these facilities boast a combined manufacturing capacity of 3,00,000 engines per annum, enabling TCPL to meet the growing demands of its customers.TCPL’s commitment to environmental sustainability was internationally recognized when its second plant in Phaltan received the prestigious ‘Green Building Award’ within a year of commencing manufacturing operations in 2012. In May 2022, Cummins made headlines with the release of a cutting-edge 15-litre hydrogen Internal Combustion Engine (ICE). This innovative move aimed to pave the way for cleaner and more sustainable transportation solutions. Furthermore, Cummins showcased its commitment to environmental stewardship by unveiling a medium-duty ICE-powered truck concept at the prestigious IAA Transportation exhibition in Hanover, Germany, later that year.
