Sathiyan Gnanasekaran: An Indian table tennis player named Sathiyan Gnanasekaran emerged victorious in the men’s singles event at the WTT Feeder Beirut 2024 tournament held at the Al Kawthar Secondary School in Lebanon. Sathiyan, ranked 103rd in the world, defeated fellow Indian and world No. 74 Manav Vikas Thakkar in the final with a score of 3-1 (6-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-4). Sathiyan thus became the first-ever Indian to win a men’s singles title at a WTT Feeder Series event. where it is his first singles title since the 2021 Czech International Open.

Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, born on January 8, 1993, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, is an Indian table tennis player. He holds the distinction of being the highest-ranked Indian in the sport, reaching a career-best world ranking of 24 in May 2019. This achievement made him the first Indian paddler ever to break into the top 25 in the International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) rankings. Sathiyan has represented India in numerous international competitions and has been a key member of the Indian table tennis team. He notably contributed to India’s success in the Commonwealth Games, winning back-to-back gold medals in 2018 and 2022.In addition to his successes on the international stage, Sathiyan has ventured into professional leagues abroad. He became the first Indian paddler to sign a contract with Okayama Rivets for the Japanese T-League and has also joined JURA MOREZ for the French PRO-A league.
