Saint Young Men Manga Got Televised Version of their Series
Saint Young Men: The popular manga series “Saint Young Men,” which depicts Jesus Christ and Gautama Buddha living together as roommates in modern-day Tokyo, is getting a live-action feature film adaptation titled “Saint Young Men THE MOVIE ~Holy Men vs Devil’s Army.” The film is set to release in Japan on December 20, 2024. The manga, serialized in Kodansha’s Morning Two magazine, has seen 21 tankobon volumes released in Japan with a total circulation of 17 million copies. This marks the first time the series will be adapted into a live-action feature film, following its previous adaptation into a TV drama series. Kenichi Matsuyama and Shota Sometani will act in the roles of Jesus and Buddha, respectively, with Yuichi Fukuda returning as the director. The film’s director, Fukuda, initially thought a feature film adaptation was impossible due to the manga’s format of short stories. However, with the creation of a feature-length episode by the manga’s author, Hikaru Nakamura, specifically for the film, the project received the green light. More information about the film will be released on the 23rd of each month leading up to its premiere.
