UNGA had adopted India’s draft resolution to honour fallen peacekeepers

India Mandate for Peacekeepers: Recently, honouring the fallen peacekeepers, India provided the mandate to establish a memorial wall in the UN headquarters to honour fallen peacekeepers, which is formally adopted by the United Nations General Assembly.

Ruchira Kamboj (ndia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Ambassador) introduced the draft to UNGA titled  ‘Memorial wall for fallen United Nations peacekeepers’ , whose objectives to honour and recognised the efforts of the fallen soldier which got affected during the peacemaking activities. One of the significant details of the mandate is that the resolution was submitted by 18 countries including Bangladesh, Canada, China, Denmark, Egypt, France, India, Indonesia, Jordan, Nepal, Rwanda and the US, which received the record 190 co-sponsorships.

Peacemaking is one of the significant activities of the UNO body, which is essential for world peace activities, in which India is one of the significant contributors (contributing the largest forces to world peacemaking forces). This memorial will be a remembrance monument for those in peacemaking efforts to keep our world safer and better than tomorrow
