Union Coal Ministry launched the Coal Logistics Plan and Policy 

Coal Logistics Plan and Policy: During the Indian National Committee of the World Mining Congress in New Delhi, Union Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi launched the Coal Logistics Plan and Policy aimed at making coal transportation cleaner, cheaper and more efficient, especially via railway networks.

Coal Logistics Plan and Policy 

The Coal Logistics Plan and Policy implemented by the Union Coal Ministry aims to modernize and streamline coal logistics, focusing on affordability, efficiency, and environmental sustainability. Key aspects of the plan include storage, loading, unloading, and delivery of coal to various industries such as power plants, steel mills, cement factories, and washeries. The policy targets a 10% reduction in the average turnaround time of wagons nationwide, enhancing the efficiency of coal transportation operations expected to reduce approximately 100,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. The policy advocates for a strategic transition towards a railway-centric transportation system, particularly in First Mile Connectivity (FMC) projects, aiming to reduce rail logistic costs by 14%, leading to an estimated annual saving of Rs 21,000 Crore.
