NICDC and IIT Delhi join for the development of greenfield smart cities in India
NICDC and IIT Delhi: A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the National Industrial Corridor Development Corporation Limited (NICDC) and the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer at the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi (FITT-IITD) were signed between them for future planning of sustainable industrial smart cities In India under the goal of “Viksit Bharat” (developed India) and its ambition to become a $5 trillion economy. Under the MOU, FITT-IITD analyzes various factors influencing location optimality, including ease of business, living costs, logistic costs, connectivity, and sustainability for greenfield smart cities in India which will be submitted to GOI. Shri Rajat Kumar Saini, CEO and MD of NICDC, expressed optimism about the transformative potential of the partnership. Held at Vanijya Bhawan, New Delhi on February 26th, 2024, the collaboration aims to assess optimal locations for the development of Greenfield Industrial Smart Cities across the country. Led by Shri Rajesh Kumar Singh, Secretary of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), the ceremony saw the participation of key government officials and FITT-IITD representatives.
