World Oral Health Day: On World Oral Health Day, the WHO call for awareness in the Southeastern Asia region to promote oral health among all. At the 75th World Health Assembly, WHO announced a Global Strategy for Oral Health where they set up Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for oral health, reaching all individuals and communities by 2030 & ending up ending all oral health while promoting better health techniques among all. WHO released the statement “Globally, oral diseases affect an estimated 3.5 billion people worldwide. Between 1990 and 2019, estimated case numbers of oral diseases increased by more than 1 billion, which translates to a 50% increase, higher than the population increase of about 45% in the same period.”

World Oral Health Day was first celebrated on September 12, 2007, on the birthday of FDI founder Dr Charles Godon organised by the FDI World Dental Federation to raise global awareness around the importance of oral health and hygiene. The theme for Oral Health Day 2024 is ‘A happy mouth is a happy body.’ As per the report released Oral diseases are among the most common non-communicable diseases worldwide, where in 2019, there were an estimated 3.5 billion cases of oral diseases and related conditions globally. Between 1990 and 2019, the estimated case numbers increased by more than 1 billion – a 50% increase.
